UAFS to Hold Homecoming Celebrations Feb. 20-25
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will hold its Homecoming celebrations from Feb. 20-25 after moving the event – previously held in the fall – to the spring semester.
“Lysistrata” to be Performed in February at UAFS
One of the oldest written comedies in the world – “and still one of the funniest,” according to a University of Arkansas – Fort Smith official – will be reenacted on the stage of the Breedlove Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23-25 and 27-28.
UAFS Music Faculty to Perform Jan. 31 Concert
A group of accomplished music faculty at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will treat local residents to a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 31 as part of the university’s Season at The Blue Lion.

The Student Veterans Organization at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith was recently recognized as one of the top student veteran groups in the nation during the Student Veterans of America national conference earlier this month in Anaheim, Calif.

Nine local high school students will serve as panelists for the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith’s annual community breakfast Jan. 16 celebrating the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.
Local Documentary to be Premiered at UAFS Jan. 19-22
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will host screenings of the documentary “Leaving a Legacy” – which chronicles the lives, triumphs, and disappointments of six band students at Northside High School – from Jan. 19-22 on the UAFS campus.
Cemetery Symbolism to be Discussed at Feb. 16 Meeting
Holly Hope, special projects historian with the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, will serve as the guest speaker for the February Ark-Homa Chapter Meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 16. The event will be held in the Echols Conference Center on the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith campus.
UAFS Campus Closed Friday, Jan. 6
The University of Arkansas - Fort Smith campus will be closed on Friday, Jan. 6 due to inclement weather. During a campus closure, UAFS employees do not report to work. As a result of the campus closure, the Chamber of Commerce's First Friday breakfast scheduled for tomorrow morning has also been cancelled. 
Blood Drive to be Held at UAFS Jan. 24-25
The University of Arkansas - Fort Smith will host a blood drive from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 24-25 in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center, with donors receiving a free T-shirt and a free health screening.

The re-surfacing of the West-Ark Church of Christ parking lot (Lot J) is nearly done. The church staff anticipates that the lot will be open for university parking on Tuesday, Aug. 25. With the exception of an anticipated half-day closing for a church event on the morning of Thursday, Aug. 27, the lot will now be open on a daily basis for UAFS commuter parking.
