Monday afernoon, following a weekend of peaceful protests in support of the Black Lives Matter movement around Fort Smith, chancellor Terisa Riley released a heartfelt message to students, faculty and staff regarding the killing of George Floyd in Minnesota, the injustices his death have exposed, and the university's committments to its Black community.
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith announced today that long-time financial aid professional Karen Jeffers will oversee the Department of Financial Aid and Veterans Benefits at UAFS. Jeffers will lead a staff of nine financial aid professionals serving nearly 6,500 students. Each year the UAFS Department of Financial Aid administers more than $53 million in financial aid and scholarships to UAFS students while ensuring compliance with federal, state and institutional guidelines.

The 2020 edition of Azahares, the Spanish literary magazine published by the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith launched this month, featuring local, regional, national and international contributors, hailing from Fort Smith to Brazil and Spain. This year’s publication is the magazine’s 12th edition.
Saturday, May 24, 2020, UAFS Chancellor Dr. Terisa Riley announced in a campus-wide email a phased return to work plan for university staff. The plan covers return to work protocols, expectations and safety measures for staff through the Summer 2020 term.
