Stojanovic Returns to UAFS in Sports Information Role
A familiar face has returned to the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Lions Athletics Department, helping tell the story of UAFS’s student-athletes. Dusan Stojanovic took over as the UAFS sports information director this fall, returning to the city and the basketball court he called home for five years. 
UAFS Announces Family Weekend, Oct. 25-26
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith’s annual Family Weekend will take place Oct. 25-26 this year, featuring a welcome reception, lip-sync battle, chili cook-off, and two volleyball games. The weekend will also represent the culmination of UAFS Volunteer Week and UAFS Greek Week with numerous on-campus and community-based activities. All Family Weekend events are free and open to the public in hopes of allowing students, parents and community members a chance to experience life on campus.
UAFS Students to Help Teachers, Children Oct. 3
A group of students at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith have taken up the mission of supporting teachers and children in the region after a lesson on satire inspired the class to respond to a serious problem with more than just humor.  Thursday, Oct. 3, from noon to 3 p.m. at the UAFS Bell Tower, a team of students will host Help A Teacher, Help A Child, an inaugural school supply drive and fundraiser to support the educators of Fort Smith.
Theatre @ UAFS to Perform "Side Man"
Theatre @ UAFS will perform Warren Leight’s Tony Award–winning play “Side Man” by Warren Leight at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 26-28; Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 in the Breedlove Auditorium on the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith campus as part of the Season of Entertainment 39. University of Arkansas - Fort Smith to offer Master of Education
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will soon offer educators a new way to strengthen their skills and advance their careers thanks to the launch of the university’s second graduate program. UAFS today announced it has received approval from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) to offer a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree; classes are scheduled to begin in January 2020. The M.Ed. will allow licensed teachers (or those eligible for licensure) to choose between two areas of emphasis: curriculum and instruction or English.
Black Student Association to Host Open Forum
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Black Student Association is hosting a public forum titled Safe Space: Let’s Talk Race, Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the UAFS Campus Center Reynolds Room.
21 Resident Assistants named at UAFS
The University of Arkansas - Fort Smith has named 21 resident assistants for the upcoming school year. These RAs will support and encourage fellow students through the transition of beginning college and living on campus, as well as help students in the UAFS residence halls feel welcomed and at home.
UAFS to Host Majors Expo
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will host the annual Majors Expo from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center, offering students an opportunity to explore the university’s degree offerings.
UAFS Opens Lion Pride Pantry
Friday morning Dave Stevens, dean of students, pushed a cart filled to the brim with canned and boxed foods down a concrete pathway toward the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Recreation and Wellness Center. Peanut butter, canned soups, granola bars, and Cup O'Noodles overflowed the rails of the cart, ready to meet the needs of students.
UAFS to Host Territorial Arkansas: The Wild Western Frontier
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, will host a traveling exhibit titled Territorial Arkansas: The Wild Western Frontier, Sept. 4-25 at the Boreham Library. The exhibition, which tells the story of Arkansas Territory, will be open for viewing 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday; and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
