UAFS to Host Exhibition by Little Rock sculptor Michael Warrick
The UAFS Windgate Art & Design Gallery will host an exhibition of work by Little Rock sculptor Michael Warrick titled “Darkness and Lightness” from Aug. 17 to Sept. 30. 
UAFS Move-In Begins Aug. 15
University of Arkansas - Fort Smith students will move into campus housing beginning in just ten days! Cub Camp participants will move in 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 15; while students residing in Sebastian Commons will move in 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 16-17, and Lion’s Den residents will move in 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 17.
Maymester in Bulgaria Creates Global Awareness
11 UAFS students began their summer immersed in the educational experience of a lifetime, during an International Honors Maymester course in Bulgaria, offered by the Myles Friedman Honors Program. Steeped in the rich cultural heritage of the region, the students focused their studies on sustainable development through the lens of the Bulgarian experience since the fall of the Berlin Wall and the democratic political changes that followed.
UAFS Bookstore Goes Tax Free Aug 3-4.
University of Arkansas – Fort Smith students, faculty and alumni will enjoy a break from sales taxes the weekend of Aug. 3-4 when the university’s bookstore will participate in Arkansas’ Tax Free Holiday.

Kannan to Set Sail with NOAA, Bring Marine Biology to UAFS
Dr. Ragupathy Kannan, a biology and ecology professor at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, will set sail Aug. 14, 2019, to assist scientists on a 16-day Summer Ecosystem Monitoring Survey along the east coast of the United States. Dr. Kannan will participate in this cruise as part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association's Teacher at Sea program, which bridges science and education through real-world research experiences.

When Shannon McGill enrolled at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith in 2017, she knew that life-changing decision was a long time coming. College was something the 35-year-old mother-of-three from Bixby, Okla., had been planning her entire life, and that August the moment and the institution were finally just right. 
Rickman, Holland named to 2020 Leadership Fort Smith class

When Quan “Jason” Ho began his studies at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith in 2013, he told friends his exceptional English skills were thanks to not only his voracious desire to learn but also his love of American television. Now Ho is the star of a Vietnamese reality television show himself.
