From Actor to Student: UAFS Senior Finds Success through Theatre Department
It’s not every day that a Hollywood actor joins the ranks of students at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith, but in January of 2018, Logan Parks did exactly that. 
UAFS, Arkansas National Guard Partner on UAS Technology
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith has reached an agreement with the Arkansas National Guard to collaborate in regards to the university’s unmanned aerial systems program, a mutually beneficial partnership that will elevate the UAS program while allowing the National Guard to utilize the technology.
Theatre @ UAFS Notches Awards at Festival
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith’s theatre department earned another slew of awards at the Arkansas State Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, which took place earlier this month at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia and was attended by universities in Arkansas and Louisiana.
Mannheim Steamroller Returns to Fort Smith for Dec. 9 Concert
Next month, Fort Smith residents will be able to celebrate the holidays once again with the return of Mannheim Steamroller to Fort Smith for two concerts Dec. 9 at the ArcBest Corp. Performing Arts Center, located at 55 S. 7th St.
McGill to Serve as Fall Commencement Speaker at UAFS
George McGill, mayor-elect of Fort Smith and representative of District 78 in the Arkansas House of Representatives, will speak at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith’s fall commencement ceremony at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 in the Stubblefield Center, located at 532 N. Waldron Road.
Davis Selected to 2018 Aramark Ring of Stars
Sonja Davis of Van Buren, catering coordinator with Aramark at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, was recently recognized for her hard work by being one of 200 employees across the country selected for the 2018 Aramark Ring of Stars, an honor celebrating outstanding company employees.
Photographer, Professor to Speak at UAFS Nov. 27
Gerardo Jaso Nacif, a professor of the prestigious school Colegio Madrid and eco-photographer for the prominent Mexican newspaper La Jornada, will visit UAFS for a lecture at 11 a.m. Nov. 27 in the theater of Windgate Art & Design, located at 535 N. Waldron Road.
UAFS’ “Career Camp” Promotes Local Job Opportunities
Thanks to the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, Fort Smith Public Schools and regional industry partners and organizations, local eighth graders had the opportunity to learn more about high-demand career fields in the Fort Smith area.
