The University of Arkansas - Fort Smith has announced the 18 best research presentations delivered at the 12th Annual Student Research Symposium, which took place April 12 on the UAFS campus.
Free Trees to Celebrate Arbor Day at UAFS
This Arbor Day, the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will host a free tree celebration at the bell tower plaza, thanks to a partnership with the Tree Campus USA Committee, and the UAFS Student Veterans Organization, Garden Club, and Green Team.
Lions Give Back on Community Outreach Day
Saturday morning University of Arkansas – Fort Smith students rose early to give back to their community through cleaning, organizing, boxing and more at the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Fort Smith. The students’ selfless efforts were part of Lions Community Outreach Day, an annual event where students give back to their region.
Educators Sign Commitments at UAFS April 18
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith School of Education’s faculty, students and supporters are celebrating the work of Arkansas teachers as part of the state-wide Educator Commitment Signing Week intitiative. 
UAFS Student Research Symposium to be Held April 12
The 12th Annual Student Research Symposium will take place from 2-4 p.m. Friday, April 12, on the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith campus. Students will present in both oral and poster formats on research projects they have conducted over the school year.
Native American Artist Jay Benham to Speak April 16
Renowned Native American artist and UAFS alumnus Jay Benham will present artistic works and discuss the history of Kiowa religious tradition and governmental policies at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Smith Pendergraft Campus Center Room 129AB.

UAFS Named 2018 Community Impact Leader
UAFS has been awarded the 2018 Community Impact Leader Award by the United Way of Fort Smith Area. UAFS interim chancellor Dr. Edward Serna and Lauren Serna accepted the award, which celebrates the university’s dedication to community service and the Fort Smith region, at the United Way's Community Impact and Investment Celebration this morning.
