UAFS Hosts MLK Breakfast, Panel Discussion
On Jan. 21 five influential leaders in the Fort Smith community discussed their various missions in alleviating poverty, hunger and homelessness in the River Valley during a panel discussion at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith moderated by Mayor George McGill.
UAFS to Hold Man vs. Machine Piano Duel March 1
Dr. Stephen Husarik, professor of humanities and music history at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, will duel with recordings of reproducing pianos in his lecture-performance “Capturing Art with Machines: Piano Players vs. Player Pianos.” The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday March 1, at the Breedlove Auditorium, located at 5120 Grand Ave.
UAFS Student Uses Campus Services to Succeed, Lose 150 Pounds
Recent graduate Garrett Rogers, 23, of Clayton, Okla., found his stride at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, utilizing campus facilities and programs to reach his academic, social and even weight loss goals, dropping nearly 150 pounds, and finding ways to succeed in his life and career over the course of his four years at the university.
UAFS Faculty Showcase to be Held Jan. 31
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will host a Music Faculty Showcase at 7:30 p.m. Thursday,  Jan. 31, at The Blue Lion at UAFS Downtown, located at 101 N. 2nd Street.
UAFS To Host Blood Drive Jan. 29-30
The University of Arkansas - Fort Smith will host its winter blood drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 29-30 in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center, located at 800 N. 49th Street.
UAFS to Host McGill's First State of the City Address
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith American Democracy Project will host Fort Smith’s newly instated Mayor George McGill as he delivers his first State of the City Address at noon Wednesday, Feb. 6, in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center. This will be an opportunity for McGill to share his assessment of where the city is and to lay out his vision for the year ahead.
UAFS To Host Mercy President in STEM Seminar Series
Cole Goodman, M.D., president, Mercy Clinic Fort Smith Communities, will visit UAFS for a lecture at noon Friday, Jan. 25, in room 101 of the UAFS Math-Science Building, located at 720 N. 49th St. Dr. Goodman will address faculty and students on the rapidly changing pace in the health care industry and the importance of higher education in preparing students to pursue careers in continuously advancing healthcare fields. 
UAFS and Northside Photography Students Hold Joint Exhibition
Photography students from the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith and Northside High School are showing a joint exhibition at UAFS entitled “3.” The exhibit is on display through Jan. 18, when a closing reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. in Windgate Art & Design, located at 535 N. Waldron Road.
