Theater @ UAFS To Perform Shakespeare in Love

UAFS Reaches Major Milestone Toward Second Master's Degree
On Jan. 25, 2019, the Coordinating Board for the Arkansas Department of Higher Education approved the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith’s proposal to offer its second master’s degree program, a Master of Education (M.Ed.) with two areas of emphasis: English and curriculum and instruction.

Outstanding Teen Competition Added to Miss UAFS Roster
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will host its first-ever Miss UAFS’s Outstanding Teen Competition at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at ArcBest Performing Arts Center, 55 S. 7thSt. in Fort Smith. This competition will be held in conjunction with the 42nd annual Miss UAFS Scholarship Competition.

For Matthew Womack, an 18-year-old freshman from Poteau, Oklahoma, beginning college was a shock, but thanks to UAFS and the mentorship he received through the Chancellor’s Leadership Class, it was a shock that spurred immense growth. 
UAFS Dental Hygiene Program to Offer Kids Dental Clinics
The Dental Hygiene program at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will sponsor free afterschool dental clinics Feb. 12 and March 12, 2019, for area children through the UAFS Smilz Kid’s Clinic. Preventive services offered by the clinic include a dental cleaning and exam, X-rays, fluoride treatments and sealants to prevent cavities. All dental hygiene services are provided by UAFS dental hygiene students under the supervision of UAFS dental hygiene faculty and staff.

UAFS Student Uses Quest For Mental Health to Help Others
Attending the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith is a vital part of Megan Sonnenmoser’s quest for mental health, and she wants her experience to help other students on campus as well.  Sonnenmoser, a 34-year-old history major from Kansas City, Mo., has battled mental health matters as long as she can remember. They impacted every aspect of her life, including her education.
