UAFS Admissions Takes Den Day Digital
Prospective students will join the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Office of Admissions next week for a virtual Den Day event. The half-day exploration event typically welcomes high school juniors from across the River Valley to campus for tours, information sessions, mock classes, discussions with college deans, and a lunch and involvement fair on the campus green. This year, however, Den Day will be offered virtually in an effort to keep students safe and involved more potential UAFS students in the events.
Culture Network to Host Candlelit Vigil for Breonna Taylor and Lives Lost to Injustice
The Culture Network at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will host a candlelight vigil at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, honoring the life of Breonna Taylor and mourning the loss of every person who has lost their life at the hands of injustice and brutality.

Family Enterprise Center Director Robertson Set to Retire
Dave Robertson, director of the Family Enterprise Center (FEC) at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, has announced his plans to retire on Dec. 31, 2020. Robertson joined UAFS in this role in April of 2009, prepared by a 29-year career in various accounting and auditing positions in the Fort Smith region.
UAFS Launches First Crowdfunding Campaign to Benefit Lion Pride Pantry
The University of Arkansas - Fort Smith launched its first digital crowd-funding effort this week in support of the Dave Stevens Lion Pride Pantry on the UAFS Campus. The university’s goal is to engage potential donors in new ways, through a month-long fundraising campaign to help combat food insecurity.
Writing Center Funded by $2.25M Grant Opens Oct. 15
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will host a grand opening celebration for the UAFS Writing Center this Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020. The Writing Center, which will support student learning by connecting faculty and tutors with students who wish to improve their writing, editing, and research, is located in the fully renovated west wing of the Old Gym at 5004 Kinkead Ave.

The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith’s Powell Student Health Center will begin COVID-19 testing on campus Tuesday, October 6, after receiving an Abbott Testing Machine and testing kits from the Arkansas Department of Health this week. 
UAFS Grad Aims to Cure Cancer Through Cell Research
Andrea Edwards, a 2013 UAFS graduate of the Chancellor's Leadership Class from White Hall, Ark., is working doctorate in the Interdisciplinary Biomedical Sciences program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where she is researching ways cells repair themselves and regenerate, with hopes to one day cure childhood cancer.
