Haunted Union to be Held Oct. 19
The UAFS Haunted Union will be held from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center.
Hooks wins Minority Access Inc. Mentor Role Model award.
Wesley Hooks, technical director at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith joined hundreds of professionals from across the country in Washington D.C. this September for the National Role Models Conference, where he was honored with Minority Access Incorporated’s esteemed Mentor Role Model award.

The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will soon provide even more academic support for its students thanks to a $2.25 million, five-year grant from the Department of Education. 
SVO brings Yoderbilt Greenhouse to Homeless Veterans
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Student Veterans Organization put action behind their mission to support local veterans this weekend, spending their Saturday morning installing a 12-by-16-foot greenhouse at the Buddy Smith Home in Fort Smith.
UAFS and Sack Lunch Program Team Up to Feed Students
At the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, administrators, student groups, and community leaders are working together to provide meals for students in a pilot program that brings Fort Smith’s Sack Lunch Program to campus. 
UAFS Students to ‘Fix the Debt’ Oct 11
Students at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will partner with First National Bank of Fort Smith this week to work a seemingly unsolvable problem for the second year – How to fix the national debt. During the interactive workshop, which will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, students of the UAFS College of Business will learn from experts how the federal budget and national debt work
Stojanovic Returns to UAFS in Sports Information Role
A familiar face has returned to the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Lions Athletics Department, helping tell the story of UAFS’s student-athletes. Dusan Stojanovic took over as the UAFS sports information director this fall, returning to the city and the basketball court he called home for five years. 
UAFS Announces Family Weekend, Oct. 25-26
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith’s annual Family Weekend will take place Oct. 25-26 this year, featuring a welcome reception, lip-sync battle, chili cook-off, and two volleyball games. The weekend will also represent the culmination of UAFS Volunteer Week and UAFS Greek Week with numerous on-campus and community-based activities. All Family Weekend events are free and open to the public in hopes of allowing students, parents and community members a chance to experience life on campus.
UAFS Students to Help Teachers, Children Oct. 3
A group of students at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith have taken up the mission of supporting teachers and children in the region after a lesson on satire inspired the class to respond to a serious problem with more than just humor.  Thursday, Oct. 3, from noon to 3 p.m. at the UAFS Bell Tower, a team of students will host Help A Teacher, Help A Child, an inaugural school supply drive and fundraiser to support the educators of Fort Smith.
Theatre @ UAFS to Perform "Side Man"
Theatre @ UAFS will perform Warren Leight’s Tony Award–winning play “Side Man” by Warren Leight at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 26-28; Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 in the Breedlove Auditorium on the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith campus as part of the Season of Entertainment 39.
