UAFS Theater to Host Fund-Raising Performance of Side Man, Feb. 16
heatre@UAFS will present a special performance of the award-winning production of “Side Man” at 7 p.m. Feb. 16, at the Alma Performing Arts Center. Proceeds from ticket sales will help enable UAFS theatre students to travel to Abilene, Texas, where they will compete at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for Region 6, Feb. 23-28. 
UAFS Early Reading Program Earns Accolades
The early reading program of the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith's bachelor of science degree in elementary education has garnered accolades this week, earning an A grade from the National Council on Teacher Quality.
State of The City Address To Be Held Feb. 19 at UAFS
Fort Smith Mayor George McGill will deliver the 2020 State of the City address at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith. The address, which will include reports on city business, a review of initiatives that reached success in 2019, and McGill’s upcoming plans and vision for 2020, will be hosted in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center at UAFS. 
Kappa Sigma Fraternity Gives Back
Members of one of UAFS’s Greek organizations recently took time from their studies to give back to the River Valley. The Omicron-Tau Chapter of Kappa Sigma Fraternity spent the weekend of Feb. 1-2 assisting the River Valley Regional Food Bank and Fort Smith Junior Volleyball Club with their various needs.
Black History Month Kicks Off at UAFS
Throughout the month of February, UAFS will honor Black History month thanks to the dedication of the Black Student Association, the Campus Activities Board and the Student Affairs Diversity Committee on campus.
Hannibal B. Johnson to Speak at UAFS Feb. 12
Acclaimed attorney, author and independent consultant Hannibal B. Johnson will present a lecture titled, “From ‘Us and Them’ to ‘We’ – Examining Explicit and Implicit Biases,” ‪Wednesday, February 12, at 6 p.m. in the Reynold’s Room of the Smith Pendergraft Campus Center, on the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith campus.

The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Homecoming celebration events will take place Feb. 24-29 on the UAFS campus.
UAFS Blood Drive Jan 29-30
The University of Arkansas - Fort Smith will host a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, and Thursday, Jan. 30, in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center on the UAFS campus, located at 800 N. 49th Street. January is National Volunteer Blood Donor Month, making this month's drive especially important.
Future Fit Training Program Begins Second Class at UAFS
Future Fit, an innovative pilot program launched by the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, will begin its second class today, Jan. 27, with a full enrollment of 20 students.

The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith program Jumpstart Arkansas mobilized residents to serve this week as part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. For 25 years, groups around the nation have served their communities on the MLK holiday, honoring Dr. King’s legacy of leadership and service.
