Jumpstart Arkansas Volunteers Serve During MLK Day
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith program Jumpstart Arkansas mobilized residents to serve this week as part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. For 25 years, groups around the nation have served their communities on the MLK holiday, honoring Dr. King’s legacy of leadership and service.
UAFS Grounds Team Earns Water & Sustainability Innovation Award
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith’s grounds management team Southeast Service Corporation (SSC) was presented the Ewing Irrigation & Landscape Supply and Audubon International Water & Sustainability Innovation Award January 15, 2020, for their overhaul of UAFS irrigation systems and their continuing commitment to sustainability on campus. The honor recognizes landscape companies, organizations, and municipalities for sustainable, water-efficient projects that strive to impact environmental and economic health and quality of life.

UAFS and PRADCO to Partner on Fishing Workshop
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Center for Business and Professional Development (CBPD) and PRADCO Outdoor Brands will host an eight-hour fishing course on how to catch America’s favorite pan fish Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Windgate Theater, located at 5210 Kinkead Ave.

Fall 2019 Dean's List Announced
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith has released the Dean's List for the fall 2019 semester, according to Dr. Georgia Hale, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs.
UAFS and Food Bank to Collect Peanut Butter during MLK Week.
In partnership with the River Valley Regional Food Bank, the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith will host its second annual peanut butter donation drive in conjunction with the Martin Luther King Junior Week celebrations. 
Darbeau Appointed Lock Haven University Provost
Dr. Ron Darbeau, dean of the University of Arkansas Fort Smith College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, and interim dean of the College of Health Sciences will step down at the end of the 2020 academic year to serve as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. 
UAFS to Host National Science Foundation Grant Workshop
The University of Arkansas - Fort Smith will partner with the Arkansas INBRE Program to bring the National Science Foundation Grant-Writing Workshop to Fort Smith Tuesday, Jan. 14,  welcoming researchers from across the state to learn from some of the NSF’s leading experts.
Dooly graduates with career, Arkansas teachers Corps fellowship in place
UAFS student Meagan Dooly, walked across the commencement stage this December, a full semester early, with a bachelor’s degree, a career plan, and a fellowship awaiting her in the new year. Caring faculty who both supported Dooly, and empowered her to seek her true calling, helped her find her place as an educator herself.
