Three UAFS Grads Named to High Reliability Teacher Cohort
The University of Arkansas - Fort Smith School of Education recently celebrated three of its graduates for being named among the first recipients of the 2020-2021 High Reliability Teacher (HRT) Cohort for Arkansas program.
UAFS Named Newest Regional Location of the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center. 
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith recently received just over $78,000 in funding to launch the newest regional office of the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center. 
Jumpstart Arkansas Serves in Honor of MLK
Eleven students from the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Jumpstart Arkansas program participated participated in the Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service Jan. 18, 2021, by serving the Fort Smith community through the 100 Families initiative. The UAFS Jumpstart members partnered with the Literacy Council of Western Arkansas, United Way of Northwest Arkansas, and local bookstore Bookish to complete the project in celebration of diversity.
Black History Month Slate Announced
Throughout the month of February, UAFS will honor Black History month thanks collaborative efforts of the university’s Black Student Association, Campus Activities Board, Student Life Office, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Programming Committee.
Mayor McGill Commends UAFS Student Visionaries
Fort Smith Mayor George McGill visited the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Wednesday, January 27, 2021, to sign a proclamation recognizing UAFS students who brought forward innovative ideas to improve the quality of place of the City of Fort Smith, and to name the students official Fort Smith Ambassadors.

60 student-athletes named to LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll
60 student-athletes at UAFS have been named to Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll this year, with 12 earning a 4.0.
UAFS Health Students to Begin COVID Vaccinations Monday
More than 300 students attending the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will have the option to receive the COVID-19 vaccination on Monday, January 11, thanks to a partnership between Coleman Pharmacy and the UAFS College of Health Sciences. In addition to students, Health Sciences faculty, instructors, and support staff who have not been vaccinated in regional hospitals and clinics will also be able to receive the vaccination.
