An exhibit on display at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith will feature still lifes and landscapes by an Arkansas artist.
“Inside & Out: Still Lifes & Landscapes of Daniel Mark Cassity” is on display from Sept. 2-Oct. 30 in the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center at UAFS.
A reception will be held from 5-6 p.m. Sept 11 in the hallway outside the Reynolds Room and is free and open to the public.
Cassity is a still life specialist who is known for his provoking paintings and artwork, referred to collectively as “The Kingdom.”
“Within The Kingdom lies a bit of storytelling, varying degrees of metaphor and symbolism, and imagination, all presented in a unique treatment of subject matter and paint manipulation,” his website states.
Cassity’s work has been on display both nationally and internationally. He was most recently selected as a finalist in The Artist’s Magazine’s 32nd annual art competition in the still life category.
The exhibit hours are 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Fridays. The exhibit is located on the west end of the first floor of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center. For more information about the exhibit, contact the Campus and Community Events office at 479-788-7300.
