The University of Arkansas - Fort Smith’s theatre program will present the annual “One-Act Showcase” at 7:30 p.m. April 28-30 in the Breedlove Auditorium, a performance that is free and open to the public.
Each night, students will perform five 10-minute shows ranging in topics from comedies to dramas. Each show is directed and performed by theatre students. Shows being performed range from unusual comedies like “The DMV One” to dramatic shows like “Gifted.”
Bob Stevenson, director of Theatre @ UAFS, said the show is an important part of the theatre curriculum for students.
“It’s an exciting time for us, because we get to see how far the students have progressed as both actors and directors,” Stevenson said. “While I mentor them and make suggestions to help improve their process and directing, ultimately the show that you see was created by students. It’s a real ‘rubber meets the road’ moment in our program.”
Students participating in the show are:
Alma: Tony Corbell, Molly Tennison and Kyle White.
Branch: Matthew Vigil.
Charleston: Kaitlin McKellip.
Fayetteville: Nicole Hutcheson.
Fort Smith: Gabby Carter, Ben Cullen, Thomas Dudley, Madison Flanders, Trystan Holt, Ryan Starkey and Rachel Townsend.
Kyoto, Japan: Nanae Toda.
