The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will bring holiday cheer to Fort Smith when the acclaimed musical group Mannheim Steamroller travels to the city for a matinee concert Dec. 13 as part of the university’s Season of Entertainment 36.
The concert will take place at 3 p.m. at the ArcBest Performing Arts Center in the Fort Smith Convention Center, located at 55 S. 7th St. The matinee performance was added after the original 7:30 p.m. showing sold out.
Considered one of the top Christmas musical groups in the nation, Mannheim Steamroller has enjoyed mass acclaim for its rock interpretations of classic holiday songs. The group has sold more than 28 million albums in the United States and has performed across the nation, including at Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade.
Stacey Jones, associate vice chancellor for campus and community events, said the concert will be a perfect way to celebrate the holiday season.
“We’re ecstatic to be able to bring a band of Mannheim Steamroller’s caliber to Fort Smith,” Jones said. “This will be a wonderful show that will ring in the holiday season like never before.”
The concert is part of Season of Entertainment 36, a yearlong lineup of entertainment sponsored by the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith featuring a variety of plays, musicals and symphonic performances.
