The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith’s Campus Activities Board recently won two awards from the National Association of Campus Activities for events it coordinated on campus.

The CAB was recognized for Outstanding Commitment to Diversity for their event Hunger for Diversity – an event to educate participants on different foods from around the world – as well as winning Best Community Program for Haunted Union, the university’s annual Halloween event.

The university has held the Haunted Union event for 13 years, which attracts thousands of attendees each year, and the Hunger for Diversity event was held for the first time last spring. During the event, attendees could play games and buy food from different countries in an effort to teach them the value of $5 in different countries.

“When I heard UAFS announced as the winner, I couldn't believe it,” said Holley Maness of Booneville, director of events with CAB. “We are a smaller school compared to some of the other schools that competed, so the fact that we won two awards was incredible. We’re very honored and humbled.”

Through leadership and teamwork, the Campus Activities Board is committed to creating impactful, yet fun and social experiences for the entire UAFS community.
