Area High School Students Showcase Artwork at UAFS

Thirty artworks by students from area high schools are currently on display at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith through April 28 as part of a high school art competition, with winners announced at a reception from 5-6 p.m. April 19.

The competition, which is sponsored by the Chancellor’s Coalition for the Visual Arts, will reward the winning student with a $1,000 scholarship to UAFS. Artworks are on display in the Reynolds Room lobby of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center, where the reception will also be held.

Students were able to submit two-dimensional works including paintings, drawings, designs, mixed media and photography. Entries were judged on use of design elements and principles, craftsmanship, and quality of concept and expression.

Exhibit hours are 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Fridays. For more information about the exhibit, contact the UAFS Box Office at 479-788-7300.
