Stephanie Long’s father, an avid Rolling Stones fan, gave each of his children a song from the legendary band to describe them. For his daughter, he chose “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” Long begs to differ. At age 21, Long is a budding entrepreneur, director of operations for a regional frozen custard chain in Northwest Arkansas, and full-time student at UAFS.
University of Arkansas - Fort Smith students will move into campus housing 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 16, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 17, and 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 18, with help from the UAFS campus community.

For Can Tran, welding is more than simply joining two pieces of metal – it’s an art form. The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith graduate and Fort Smith resident found a unique platform for his art when he returned to school in 2015 to pursue an associate degree in welding. When Tran welded together a picture frame for a class project, he took it a step further.

UAFS to Host Blood Drive July 17
The University of Arkansas Fort Smith will host its summer blood drive from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. July 17 in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center, located at 800 N. 49th Street.
UAFS to Host Opioid Summit June 20
A summit to discuss opioid abuse in the Fort Smith community will be held from 12:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. June 20 at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith that will include Attorney General Leslie Rutledge, state representatives, and representatives from local agencies.
“Azahares” to be Released at May 3 Event
The 10th anniversary of “Azahares,” the annual Spanish literary magazine published by the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith, will be celebrated at a release event at 6 p.m. May 3 in room 122 of the Boreham Library on the UAFS Campus.
