Prospective students will join the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Office of Admissions next week for a virtual Den Day event.
The half-day exploration event typically welcomes high school juniors from across the River Valley to campus for tours, information sessions, mock classes, discussions with college deans, and a lunch and involvement fair on the campus green. This year, however, Den Day will be offered virtually in an effort to keep students safe and involved more potential UAFS students in the events.
All current high school students and their parents are invited to join in these online events to learn more about admissions deadlines, scholarship opportunities, and everything UAFS has to offer.
Admissions representatives have partnered with each college to prepare short videos to welcome participants and will join UAFS’s academic deans in live Zoom chats to speak directly with students and families.
Concurrent students will also have a unique opportunity tonight, Thursday, October 29, to participate in a virtual session with the concurrent programs team at UAFS, as well as the admissions, financial aid, and advising offices, to review next steps for concurrent students to move through the application process, scholarship and financial aid opportunities and what to expect for advising and registration.
UAFS student ambassadors will lead video tours highlighting important social and academic buildings on the UAFS campus. These videos will also be featured on the Den Day webpage and the UAFS Admissions social media pages.
Prospective students are encouraged to check out the Den Day pages to find out more about their colleges of interest as well as insights into academics and honors, finding success as a first-generation college student, tips for navigating financial aid, lists of available student services, and more.
Some sessions will also be presented in Spanish with question-and-answer portions facilitated by Admissions Officer Luis Negrete Becerra.
Virtual Den Day participants will also have access to in-platform viewing of the "Rock the FAFSA" virtual event series, hosted by the UAFS Office of Financial Aid.
