Graduate students at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith could see a tuition savings of more than $3,000 this Spring, thanks to a Border State Tuition promise passed this month.
Graduate students at UAFS enrolled in either of the two degree programs, Master of Education and Master of Health Care Administration, will see a savings of $239 per credit hour if they live in Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Tennessee, Mississippi or Louisiana due to the newly extended in-state tuition rate for states bordering Arkansas. In-state students pay just $349 per credit hour for graduate programs at UAFS, close to half the national average cost of $627 per credit hour, according to the Urban Institute.
The two master’s degree programs at UAFS were designed with high-demand careers in mind, so graduates can land high-paying jobs immediately upon graduation. Online or Hybrid instruction is tailored to meet employer needs across the region and provide advanced instruction in a format convenient for all students.
“The Master of Science in Healthcare Administration (MHCA) program has recognized the need for leaders in healthcare and the significant contribution to improving our communities' health. The program consistently ranked as one of the best online HCA programs in the country, and it is so exciting to know that the opportunity to earn this degree is in reach for more students than ever before,” said Cheryl Holden, Executive Director of the Master’s in Healthcare Administration
“We are extremely excited about the opportunity for teachers who serve classrooms in border states to be able to receive in-state tuition at UAFS.” added Dr. Monica Riley, executive director of the UAFS school of education. “We serve students from numerous border states in our undergraduate program, and offering in-state tuition will remove a financial barrier for further advancement of both recent Bachelor’s degree graduates and classroom teachers alike.
Applications for spring entry into both programs will close December 15, 2020, and the UAFS foundation has additional graduate scholarships available through its Lions SHARE portal through December 31, making a graduate degree even more affordable.
