A new local chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People will hold a Christmas banquet at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Dec. 4. Approximately 500 student veterans are enrolled at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, making it one of the largest student veteran populations among universities in the state. One thing the university had been missing, however, was a space dedicated solely to veterans. This week, that problem was solved when the university opened the Veteran Resource Center in the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center, a facility offering veterans a place to study, connect, and unwind.
