The Center for Business Research and Economic Development at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith (CBRED) announced the release of a special report on the regional economy during the Fort Smith Regional Economic Outlook Forum held Dec. 12 at UAFS.
The digital report, titled A Sector Analysis of the Fort Smith MSA Economy: 2007 & 2010, examines the impact of key sectors on the regional economy and compared sector performances in 2007 and 2010.
According to Dr. Kermit W. Kuehn of Fort Smith, center director, the forum coincides with the release of the third quarter Fort Smith Regional Economic Outlook Report, sponsored by Arvest Bank.
Kuehn stated that the third quarter report included significant portions of the second installment of the analysis conducted by Dr. Latisha Settlage of Fort Smith, research associate in CBRED.
“This analysis allowed us to examine the key sectors that contribute to our economy,” Dr. Settlage said. “It also provides us with a pretty good picture of the pre- and post-recession impact on our economy in terms of jobs, pay and output.”
According to Kuehn, the 25-page report is only available in easy-to-download digital form.
Kuehn stated, “As far as I know, this is the first attempt to dissect our economy and look at the various pieces that define us.”
