Several members of the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Music Department faculty are performing a free concert -- Faculty Follies & Serious Stuff -- on Sept. 4.
The 7:30 p.m. concert will be held at UAFS at Second Street, 101 N. 2nd St. The public is invited.
The UAFS music faculty is a highly-trained, widely-experienced group of musicians that represent a diverse mix of musical backgrounds and interests, according to Dr. Elizabeth Momand of Fort Smith, head of the Music Department.
“The faculty is really looking forward to this concert,” Momand said. “The fall Follies concert is a bit more relaxed than our spring faculty recital, and the program will be very eclectic. There will be classical, jazz, blues, Broadway and pop tunes performed in a variety of ensembles.”
Participants who are scheduled to perform:
Fort Smith: Dr. Angela Carter and Dr. David Carter, clarinet; Ginny Hudson, flute; Josh Knight, percussion; Gini Law, piano; George Mann, piano; Momand, soprano; Dr. Matt Vangjel, trumpet; Dr. Edward White, bass-baritone; Dr. Kay White, mezzo-soprano; and Dr. Alexandra Zacharella, trombone.
Paris: Dr. Sharon Kenney, soprano.
Prairie Grove: Dr. Rager H. Moore II, tenor.
Shawnee, Okla.; Alice Sanders, piano.
Winslow: Nancy Mathis, soprano, and husband Peter Hine, baritone.
“The fall Follies concert is our first concert of the academic year,” Momand added. “We’re eager to start the semester with great music, and we hope the public will come out and join us for this fun evening.”
