Nursing Students & Adviser Win Awards

The Student Nurses’ Association at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith brought home four awards from the annual state convention of the Arkansas Nursing Students’ Association.

 

Student of the Year Award went to Kathy Tull of Waldron, who is the president of the UAFS group. The award is given to a student who demonstrates excellence in leadership through service to their community, the nursing program and the local nursing chapter.

 

Ashley Mayfield of Van Buren, treasurer for the UAFS Student Nurses’ Association, received the Courageous Heart Award, given to a student who has shown the ability to rise up against adversity and still thrive during the career as a nursing student, and the Financial Excellence Award, given to a chapter treasurer who successfully manages the finances of the organization through diligence, impeccable record keeping and extensive planning.

 

Chapter adviser Dana Reeves of Greenwood received the Chapter Adviser of the Year Award, given to a chapter adviser who has demonstrated giving of time, effort, wisdom and care to the school chapter and to state and national organizations.

 

Other officers for the group include Jake Malone of Rudy, vice president; Billy Lockhart of Fort Smith, secretary; Annsley Holland of Mansfield, community service chair; Krysta Davis of Prairie Grove, fundraising chair; and Caitlin Wallace of Barling, publisher. In addition to Reeves, Teresa Libby of Fort Smith is also a faculty adviser for the UAFS organization.
