Areas of expertise: cross country, running, track and field, renewable energy, beekeeping. 


Jason Merritt is an Instructor of Electronics Technology in the College of Applied Science and Technology. Prior to that, Merritt was a principal and head cross country and track coach at Gateway Christian School in Roswell, N.M. He currently serves as a volunteer assistant coach with the UAFS women's cross country team, and holds six coaching certifications in the sport. Additionally, he has coached from the junior high to collegiate level, helping several individuals earn state championships at track meets. 

Merritt also has taught courses on renewable energy and is a beekeeper in his spare time. He is knowledgeable in starting a new colony and processing honey from established hives.
