Areas of Expertise: 19th century American history, Civil War, and military, judicial and federal Indian policy during the 19th century, 18th and 19th century artillery and small arms.


Tom Wing is an Assistant Professor of History at UAFS and Director of the university-owned Drennen-Scott Historic Site. Wing was a certified historic weapons safety officer for the National Park Service and also was a certified wild land firefighter. He is also an NRA level 1 shotgun coach and coached a youth trap shooting team for 8 years through the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.


Wing has also served as a consultant on the Smithsonian Channel's Real Stories show about True Grit, where he was a fact-checker and also interviewed for the segment.
